Legal Counsel Pomerleau Inc.

Location: Ottawa

The successful candidate will engage in legal support for the day-to-day activities and operations of Pomerleau and its affiliate, Beaubois. In the course of their duties, the legal counsel will, among other things:

  • Prepare, review, analyse and negotiate various types of contracts;
  • Prepare and review claims, as well as draft documents for legal proceedings, conduct examinations, analyse cases, provide litigation strategy and coordinate with external legal counsel where necessary;
  • Advise members of the management team on any legal matters;
  • Assist in the implementation and updating of various corporate governance documents and policies;
  • Review and analyse technical documents;
  • Review and analyse tender documentation;
  • Answer questions of a legal nature, support and assist the company’s employees assigned to operations on the company’s various projects; and,
  • Undertake any other associated tasks related to the operations of the company.

Applicants must have an LL.B/JD or NCA equivalent and be a licensed and practising member of the Law Society of Ontario or any other common law province of Canada (being a member of a bar in the United States would also be an asset) with at least 5 to 10 years of experience. A knowledge of French is an asset, as is working knowledge of the construction industry. In addition, applicants must have excellent negotiation and persuasion skills, possess strong advocacy skills.
